Share the Load with Team Leadville
Yaeger VP, Matt Turner, alongside Team Leadville captain Anthony “Tony” Hofmann, represented the Greater Kansas City Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), as Tony presented a check from Team Leadville to Warriors’ Ascent. Hofmann, a retired Army officer and marathon runner, founded Team Leadville, a marathon team raising money for Warriors’ Ascent, a non-profit that fights veteran suicide by putting the veterans through a week-long program proven to reduce the emotional and psychological suffering of participants.
This year’s Team Leadville race was cancelled due to COVID-19, but that did not stop 13 runners in three time zones and four states from running their own marathons on June 13th, raising a total of $36,380 for Warriors’ Ascent. This donation will sponsor 18 Veterans and First Responders to attend Warriors’ Ascent’s cutting-edge holistic program which provides hope and healing to those suffering from post-traumatic stress.
“I’ve seen the Warriors’ Ascent program save lives and that’s what fuels me,” says Hofmann. You can “Share the Load” by organizing your own march or donating by visiting this link. The campaign runs June 27 – July 4, 2020.
