In aviation, successful projects require more than architectural expertise. They demand a thorough understanding of airfield operations, regulatory requirements, security protocols, maintenance workflows, and the unique needs of both commercial and military aviation clients.

With decades of experience delivering award-winning, sustainable facilities, Rob Fish, Project Manager and Senior Project Architect at Yaeger Architecture, has built a reputation for leading complex aviation, military, and industrial projects from concept through construction. His expertise spans virtually every aspect of aviation infrastructure, making him an invaluable resource for clients seeking innovative, mission-focused solutions.

A Trusted Leader in Aviation Design

Rob’s portfolio includes a wide range of commercial and industrial aviation projects, including airport terminals, baggage handling systems, TSA security facilities, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) stations, FAA Air Traffic Control Towers, commercial airline maintenance hangars, and aircraft assembly facilities. Rob is equally accomplished in the military aviation sector, where operational readiness, security, and mission requirements drive facility design.

His military aviation experience includes Air Traffic Control Towers, Flight Simulator Facilities, Aircraft Maintenance Hangars, and Corrosion Control Hangars for a wide range of military clients, including the Department of the Air Force (DAF), AFCEC, NAVFAC, USACE, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the National Guard. His work spans more than a dozen military installations nationwide.

Rob’s extensive portfolio demonstrates both the trust placed in his expertise and his ability to navigate the complex requirements associated with aviation projects.

Influencing Aviation Industry Standards

One of Rob’s most notable professional achievements was serving as the architect for the development and major revisions of UFC 4-211-01: Aircraft Maintenance Hangars, published by the National Institute of Building Sciences on April 13, 2017. This critical Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) standard consolidated aircraft maintenance hangar requirements from the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy into a single reference document. In this role, Rob coordinated closely with subject matter experts representing all three service branches to align operational needs and establish a unified set of design criteria. As part of the process, he conducted site visits to military installations across the country to gain firsthand insight into the similarities and differences in aircraft maintenance operations and facility requirements among the Services.

His leadership in developing this nationally recognized standard demonstrates not only extensive technical expertise but also a commitment to advancing consistency, efficiency, and excellence in military aviation facility design.

A Track Record of Award-Winning Innovation

Rob’s expertise and commitment to excellence have earned industry recognition for delivering innovative solutions on complex infrastructure and aviation projects. His work on the TECO District Energy System Expansion earned both the ACEC Engineering Excellence Honor Award and the Gold Medal in Energy, recognizing innovation and outstanding performance in energy infrastructure design.

Additionally, the Southside Aviation Runway and Facilities project at Marshall Army Airfield, Fort Riley, Kansas, received the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Merit Award for Best Project, highlighting the successful collaboration, technical excellence, and mission-focused solutions delivered to support military aviation operations. These honors underscore Rob’s ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver high-performing facilities that exceed client expectations.

Expertise at Every Altitude

Whether developing aviation facilities, supporting military readiness, or helping shape national design standards, Rob brings exceptional technical knowledge and leadership to every project. His unique combination of aviation expertise, architectural excellence, and industry-recognized innovation makes him a valuable resource for Yaeger’s clients seeking thoughtful, high-performing design solutions.
