2021 Academy of Fellows Investiture

Congratulations to Yaeger Vice President, Matthew Turner, on your Investiture to the SAME Academy of Fellows! The Investiture ceremony was held virtually on Wednesday May 12th. The SAME Academy of Fellows recognizes those members who have rendered dedicated and outstanding service to the Society, military engineering, and the A/E/C profession. SAME has bestowed the title of Fellow on select members since 1972; however, in 1995, an academy was founded to formally acknowledge these distinguished individuals. Today, there are more than 800 members of the Academy of Fellows.

28 SAME members took their pledge as Fellows in 2021. Each Fellow professed their commitment with a statement. Matt’s is as follows:

“I am committed to identifying, recruiting, mentoring and onboarding no less than two Young Professionals annually, using my time and experiences to hold monthly 1-on-1 mentoring and identifying available Greater Kansas City Post leadership positions that provide opportunities for them to grow personally and professionally while championing the Society’s Strategic Plan.”

Matt has a long history with SAME, including his current service on the National Board of Direction and as Past President of the Greater Kansas City Post. Well done, Matt!
